Sanshiru-ko

sanshiruko (2)

三 線 講

Since long ago – before shamisen music was established in the mainland Japan – people in the southern islands in Japan have been enjoying “shimauta (folk songs)” and “sanshiru (sanshin)” exressing their wisdom, love and sorrow in their daily life.

Sanshiru-ko, based on the indigenous folk music in Okinoerabu-island, attempts to unearth and convey the vanishing pieces and develop the new style of music entertainment.

*”Sanshiru” means “sanshin” in a local Okinoerabu dialect.
